Great, historic small town with the Nation's largest Civil War Battlefield that the National Park Service is constantly trying to restore/maintain to its 1863 setting. I highly recommend booking a licensed battlefield guide for a two hour tour of the battlefield. WELL worth the price.

Gettysburg is much more than its history, and the history itself will keep you busy for days. We found so many local businesses that we wanted to explore, hotels we'd like to stay in, and people that were so friendly. Could easily make a long weekend out of a visit, even in the off season.

The town was very cute. But it is a very "sleepytown".
The town was very cute. But it is a very "sleepytown". Everything closes so early including gas stations even on the weekends. So, if you are from the city like me make sure you do everything early including food. Most places close their kitchens between 9-10pm on the weekends.

We chose the self guided tour through Action Tour Guide.
We chose the self guided tour through Action Tour Guide. You pay online prior to your tour, download the app, and when you start at the designated location, the app uses GPS to guide you through a specific tour route.....with narration. VERY inexpensive, but thorough and informative. The 'human' guide prices were exorbitant. The only caution is that there are no restrooms on the tour route. So, in order to use facilities, you must leave the route and return to where you stopped on the tour route. The app doesn't help you find restrooms. In addition, most businesses (including 7 Eleven) would not allow someone to use their restroom. We had to travel back to Sheetz (2-3 miles out of our way) for hassle -free relief.

Gettysburg is a great place to visit.
Gettysburg is a great place to visit. We have been there many times and enjoy our time there. There is not only so much history to explore but the shopping is good too. When visiting, dining at the Dobbin House is a must. Best food in town

Thanksgiving is a great time to visit Gettysburg.
Thanksgiving is a great time to visit Gettysburg. The Thanksgiving buffet at the Gettysburg hotel offered a nice variety of entrees and vegetables. There are no crowds - even groups at the lighting of the Christmas tree were not overwhelming. The lack of leaves make the battlefield easier to view. Although cool, we had several hours or warm, bright sun.
Nice hotel, we booked the king bed room which was really big. Comfy bed and bathroom, nice mini kitchen includes fridge & microwave. We had a big window which is a bonus.
We’ve got a 25$ coupon for the next stay at the best western hotels.
Safe location, a lot of parking slots, restaurants & coffee nearby.
I recommend to drive around the town out of the “Main Street”.
Eternal light peace memorial is a perfect stop for sunset. (7 min drive from the town)
The breakfast had lots of options but the pancake machine was out of order which is one of my favorite parts of hotel breakfasts. I enjoyed the coffee, juice, yoghurt, warm cinnamon rolls, bagels with cream cheese and mini muffins. There was also eggs, sausage and gravy but I don’t like those. Ice machines on each floor and coffee and tea available always.
The bed was comfortable, and the room was very spacious and big. And the staff everyone was so helpful. And the young man at the front desk was very knowledgeable about the history of Lancaster but also, Gettysburg. And I enjoyed the variety of all the items for breakfast. Everyone was very helpful I would, come there and book a room at the hotel again.
The room was simple and clean. I don't care about special amenities. All I want is a clean room, a nice shower, a comfortable bed, a tv with cable channels, and free waffles. Days Inn had all of these. If you are looking for a fancy hotel, there are plenty of other hotels in Gettysburg. If you want a simple, nice hotel, come here.
This place is awesome. It’s not a fancy hotel, but is a step back in time. The location is a quiet area, yet very convenient. The staff was awesome. Very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very clean as well as the outside property. We plan to make more trips to Gettysburg and will for certain stay at this motel.
We booked a return trip to Gettysburg and also a return trip to this hotel. We stayed there several years ago. It is a solid value for the basics. Don't expect any frills, no breakfast or pool but if you need a quality room it fits the bill. Easy check-in, clean comfortable room, and located near the area attractions.
I loved the atmosphere! Walking around the hotel feels like being in a civil war art museum. it made being in Gettysburg feel so authentic!
The hotel was full of historic charm and character with all the modern amenities. it was impeccably clean! We enjoyed our experience and would love to come back!
I've stayed at several questionable hotels this year. My budget was low so I expected a similar experience but I was pleasantly surprised of the cleanliness of this room. I highly recommend this hotel for the person who doesnt want to spend a fortune, but wants a room you feel safe walking in barefoot!
Convenience to downtown Gettysburg, great value, great staff! Beds super comfy!!!! Has a very nice bar in hotel with a deli and gift shop. The large heated indoor pool was a bonus! The room was much bigger then most hotel rooms.
Very well located for a tour of the battlefield, only a few minutes drive from the Visitor Center. The hotel is also across the street from the Gettysburg Outlet stores. Good breakfast in the mornings, coffee available 24/7
The breakfast was good and the area extremely clean. We were able to enjoyably sit and eat. Ideally it would be lovely to be located in historical Gettysburg, but the location really didn't make a difference on my opinion.
Location ! if Your going to visit the Gettysburg Battlefield, this is a great place to stay, located on Emmitsburg road just west of the Battlefield, so no heavy traffic like the hotels just off of Rt.15,
The room was just right for a single person. Quiet, comfortable, easy access to Gettysburg, and surrounding areas. Perkin's breakfast was wonderful, and with the 10% price break, it was very good.
The location is fantastic! I love being right in the center of town, especially at the holidays. And the hotel itself is great for when you need a break from all that eating and shopping!
