A Millionaire's playground, Miami Beach is all about sun, sea and sand. Popular as a spring break destination, its miles of pristine sands shelve gently into the turquoise Atlantic Ocean.
Lining the beach are tall palm trees and the promenade, famous for the beautiful people that go rollerblading by. Add to this a warm, subtropical climate and you can see why many celebrities have chosen to set up home in Miami Beach.
You might even spot some of them shopping in the designer boutiques along Lincoln Road. And if your budget doesn’t quite stretch that far, there’s still a great range of shops with more moderate prices, including Aventura Mall and CocoWalk.
The city also has its fair share of culture, including the Art Deco District, which houses the world’s largest collection of Art Deco architecture, including some of the brightly-lit Miami Beach hotels on Ocean Drive.
Comprising a series of islands just across Biscayne Bay from Miami (the route you take from Miami Airport), this city has a heavy Latin American influence, which is evident in the cuisine and fantastic nightlife. Whether you choose Miami Beach accommodations in the North Beach, Mid Beach or South Beach areas, a Cuba Libre - rum and coke - is never far away.
I visited in March. Miami beach and Ocean Drive is well policed so felt safe. The beach is huge and spacious with azure sea and white sand. Loved it. There are plenty of sunbeds available single and double with canopies. The back drop is Ocean Drive and there is a fab walk all along the beach. South Point is great at sunset. People cycle all along this. There is no end of eateries and bars together with nightlife.

What I liked most about this hotel was its location, with easy access to the beach, museums, the art deco district and a lively social vibe.
What I didn’t like was Booking.com’s failure to advise me of all the restrictions imposed on the area because of Spring Break, which I was totally unaware of. All car parks in the area were closed, many streets were closed off and there was absolutely no street parking. A midnight curfew was also in place. This caused me a great deal of stress, inconvenience and additional parking expense. I found out later from the hotel that all this information was on their website but as I had booked via the Booking.com website, I had not seen this.
Had I had prior warning of all these restrictions I would not have gone ahead with the booking. There is really NO EXCUSE for Booking.com’s omission as there has been major trouble in recent years which apparently is well known.
My advice to other travellers is to avoid this area during Spring Break.

Expect long traffic jams, loud-obnoxious horn honking, DV incidents along sidewalks, and road construction. Every place you can park is not free. You have to pay by plate, there's signs. Beautiful weather, but lousy people.
Collins pizza is great, but pricey. Crab du jour is also nice but very pricey. The Miami zoo has more than what the website shows. Splash pads, water park, etc.

The Rivière is located around the corner from restaurant row (Espanola Way). It’s on the main avenue and it’s easy to walk around South Beach. Miami and South Beach have a distinctly Latino vibe, unlike Ft Lauderdale.
Lots of nightlife, but strangely you cannot buy beer at a store after 8 pm due to local ordinance. You must go to a bar or restaurant for alcoholic beverages (of which there are many). We taxied from Miami airport and paid $50 plus tip. However, we were leaving for the airport early in the morning, so we booked a car on the Uber app and it was only $25 plus tip for the same distance.

If you love a tourist trap, then you'll be at home here in South Beach, if you like high-priced food and drinks, then you'll absolutely love it here... However, you can get some absolutely fantastic deals in the many tee-shirt stores donning the MIAMI logo types.
It was worth seeing what the fuss was about, such as the hotel where Al Pacino had a shoot-out in Scarface and the Versace hotel.

Lots of fun in Miami Beach and area!
Lots of fun in Miami Beach and area! Good mix of ages and ethnicities. Great food in little restaurants and cafeterias on Washington St such as Pizza Rustica (GF pizza options) and great smoothies and meats (which you can buy on their own or in meals with rice, beans, etc, also gluten free) at Dulce Cafeteria. Lots of fancier restaurants, clubs and shops on Ocean Dr. Transportation is great — there are free local loop busses, and reasonably priced busses for longer transportation that link to other cities and airports such as Fort Lauderdale and the Sunny Isles Beach (Haulover Parks and Beaches). It is a clean and safe city, and had a good police presence in the busiest areas at night. If the opportunity arises, I would go back.
It is a simple but comfortable and quiet hotel. There is no front desk staff, but easy access in and out ( you use code to open doors). It is an ok hotel to spend couple of nights, close to the beach, there is an amazing Italian restaurant right on the corner. Parking on the street was easy ( tip you can park for free on the 73th street, 2 blocks away, or park half block away for $1 per hour, free at night). If you want more things going on, better stay closer to south beach, however this location was good for 2 nights and I drove to places.
We arrived south beach in the morning while our check in time was at 4pm. The host was kind enough to let us check in earlier without having to incur any extra fee. This is the best location for Miami Beach experience with plenty of options for activities, including beach volleyball, cycling (longest boardwalk spanning south-, mid-, and north-beach), pier experience, relaxing on beach, and plenty of dining options.
Staff here are 11/10, they are friendly and helpful no matter what kind of trip you're looking for. The value for price was great. The location is convenient to the beach and the lobby is classic old south beach hotel. The curtains on the bunk beds are nice for privacy. The guest discount on drinks is great. The hostel even has a WhatsApp number you can text for questions before, during and after your stay.
Location is great, south of fifth street is a nice area & closeness to the beach was awesome. Overall quiet area and the room had nice big windows. Several good breakfast places near within a decent walking distance.
The hotel also provided beach towels and a deal with Esteban's on the beach for free chairs. This was a nice touch (for umbrella you still need to pay 15 USD).
An exceptional hotel right in the heart of South Beach. One block from Ocean Drive, walkable to all sights. The room was very spacious with a large comfortable bed. The hotel was quiet, however outside on the street can get noisy at night. No breakfast offered, but proximity to all restaurants/cafes/coffee shops make this a non issue.
Brilliant value for money!
It’s a great location and a quiet place after being in the wild and party area of South Beach was really north of south beach was good spot for shopping and dining I like trying different hotels in the area. If your a pool person don’t stay here way to small and dead on the roof unlike other hotels I’ve stayed at in South beach
Miami South beach is amazing. This superb Art deco Hotel was just perfect for our short visit to such an iconic place. The Hotel had preserved its atmosphere . breakfast was sitting on the frontage overlooking the beach area.
Parking was just behind the hotel and reasonably priced for two days, $40.
The location on Ocean Drive is fantastic and we loved the Art Deco style of the hotel. Our room had a view of the pool and the beach and was not very big, but absolutely ok for us. The decoration was very nice. It was great that we could use bikes from the hotel for exploring South Beach.
I stayed in a 4 bed room with bathroom: the room was clean, big and very quiet even if there parties going on. The staff is nice and the hotel is in a good location to visit miami beach and south beach. If you want to go in downtown the bus stop is one minute walk
The location of the hotel is excellent. Just on the south beach. The room was of good size and clean. The breakfast was in a nearby restaurant .Although it is not a buffet but an American breakfast but it was excellent. Staff is very polite and helpful.
Being at the heart of South Beach, this hotel has one of the best locations in the city. Smack right between South Pointe and Ocean Drive, everything’s close by and the beach is just a couple of blocks aways.
I liked specifically the area of miami beach that the hotel is located. North Miami Beach had the classiness, the south florida feel, and was really never too busy to where i couldn’t get to my hotel.
Simple yet clean rooms. Staff are nice. The pool area is lovely. The hotel is in a great location in our opinion as you don't get all the noise/chaos from the main streets in south miami beach.
Staff was exceptional and hotel was kept very clean. Overall our room was very nice with balcony and had a great oceanfront view of ocean. Beach chairs included with resort fee was a plus.
The hotel had great location, right in the middle of South Beach. The actual beach is right across the street, and the street is Ocean Drive. No need to say much more.
Location was great! Extremely walkable to everything around South Beach. We have visited many hotels around South Beach and these have been the best beds by far!
