Sarah was a great hostess. She took the time to help us with some of our travel plans, including identifying some places to stay in the area we were about to travel to. She also made us a beautiful breakfast (asked for scrambled eggs, salmon, mushrooms, and bread) at the time we requested. It was perfectly prepared. In addition to the breakfast she offered home-made granola, fruit, including apples from her apple trees, and home-made conserves. The room was lovely and comfortable. Stroud House was a perfect choice for our visit to the Isle of Wight.

Only downside was the weather but that was to be expected.
Only downside was the weather but that was to be expected. Many things were closed or had limited access due to poor weather and flooding, again this down to nature, not human failure. Loved the Isle and so much to visit and see. Locals very friendly and you feel safe there, a lovely atmosphere everywhere.

The location is excellent and a good starting point for cycling and walking. The apartment is spacious for two people and is well-equipped. With the windows open, you're close enough to hear the waves on the shore.
TIPS: Take an eye mask for sleeping if you prefer sleeping in after 5 am!
There is a super pizza van across the road - highly recommend - check for opening times. The same applies to a Travelling Bar on a bus it is situated close to the beach - 5 mins walk.
If you like good coffee - take your own Nespresso machine (we did!)

You don't go to Freshwater Bay for attractions, it is quiet and a bit run down, but there are other seasides close. Really great attractions like Alum Bay, The Old Battery, Tennyson Down, Yarmouth etc. are close by. Interesting town centre which is long and has individual shops, places for coffee, fish and chips etc as well as several major supermarkets.

A wonderful destination for those who like to walk amongst stunning scenery with views of water in all directions, study birds, and see a variety of gardens with Mediterranean-type growth.
This delightful, listed property has a huge garden in the middle of Freshwater, perfectly located for walking to the sea or onto the headland. The village atmosphere is cultivated by a combination of thatch, tiled and modern buildings with a Church and pub just along the road. The shops of Freshwater are also within easy walking distance, including an Indian restaurant with a mouth-watering menu!
The bus service is frequent, so the car can have a rest too. An idyllic holiday location.

Freshwater, Colwell Bay and the South West area is a great location. Great sandy beaches, excellent walks and lots to see and do. Head North to Yarmouth on the Coastal path and back round to Freshwater on the disused railway track, or South to the Needles and return on the inland walk ways. The Red Lion in Freshwater is a great friendly pub, tucked away in a quiet area but well frequented by locals and holiday makers. Great selection of beers and any other tipple you might fancy. A goo selection of home cooked food awaits (although when do triple cooked chips become roast potatoes? go with the skinny fries!). The Hut on the beach at Colwell is a must if you have a special occasion to celebrate, pricey but well worth it for the experience. Also try the Highdown Inn at Totland Bay, a good stopping point when walking.
We had wonderful stay at beautifully decorated and renovated Cosy Wolf in Freshwater. The place has great location (15mins walk to the Freshwater Bay or app 30mins to Totland Bay and 8mins to Co-op 😉). Room had everything we needed including fan. Lena our host went up and beyond to make us feel as comfortable as possible. Her breakfasts and home baked cakes were delicious. Lena was also always happy to help with any questions or needs. If we ever come back to this side of the island we will definitely stay at the Cosy Wolf!
The bungalow is airy, spacious, very well kitted out - even trays provided to carry food outdoors to eat - and situated in a peaceful lane, 10 minutes walk from the Bay, overlooking a field. There are plenty of places - front and back - to choose from to sit outside. A well-stocked corner shop is 5 mins walk away.
The care which Carol and Brian take to ensure that EVERYTHING is spotlessly clean meant we had no health and safety concerns in this current Covid climate.
Rockstone cottage is perfectly located close to the gorgeous Colwell Bay and The Hut restaurant. The beds were super comfy and every morning we were served the most incredible breakfast! Denise, the host, was lovely and helpful and we even got to meet her gorgeous dog Nelson (don't worry - he doesn't roam the place if you don't like dogs and we didn't hear him once). We would not hesitate to stay here again!
The house and the room were lovely! Very comfy bed and amazing shower! Sarah has made it look lovely and very homey with all the personalised touches and furnishes! Sarah is an amazing host, very welcoming and cooks an amazing breakfast (plus the added bonus of a pooch to cuddle)! In a lovely location close to freshwater with lots of lovely walks nearby! Well worth a visit, we can’t wait to come back :)
A well laid out, clean property in a quiet location, yet only a few minutes away from Yarmouth, Totland or Freshwater, with a nice view across the Solent. The property was also warm and cosy when the weather turned stormy during the first few days of our stay. Free parking opposite property, Wifi and Freeview are also provided. The two mini wines awaiting our arrival were a nice touch !
I am delighted to have stayed at Tollgate Cottages. Very high standards of cleanliness, furnishings and equipment throughout. Lovely breakfast to set us up for the day. Very quiet location with extensive garden and views. I would be very happy to return to Tollgate Cottages any time.
Lovely comfortable house - beautifully modernised, furnished and equipped with a lovely garden. Close to Freshwater Bay, Colwell Bay and Yarmouth. Great walks on the coast path especially over Tennyson Down. Pretty garden and seating area outside.
Excellent location close to the most scenic area and hiking trails on the Isle of Wight. Stand alone well furnished The host, Carol, was the best - very helpful. Great large breakfast served in the room.
The location was perfect for us, attending a family wedding in Freshwater and the house was perfect for the 6 of us. Given the very hot weather, thank you for the ice creams in the freezer!
Location was excellent - quiet yet close to Freshwater and very close to a lovely walk along the causeway between Freshwater and Yarmouth. Well equipped accommodation. Very comfortable bed.
The view from the balcony across Freshwater Bay was great. The cleanliness of the room and en-suite was very good over the three nights. The size of the room and bathroom.
Great location, and the house is equipped extremely well, and so aesthetically pleasing. Smooth check-in and the beach is right there. Accessible by public transport too!
I liked the location of the property. Very close to the beach and other attractions. The weather was nice so quick access to the beach for a long walk was convenient.
