Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

From a touristic perspective Shizuoka was just perfect for travelers who look for a more relaxing location. It was not full of tourists like you would expect seeing in Tokyo. But this also means that not everything is written or explained in english.
Shizuoka is a perfect stay location when you want to visit locations like Nagoya, Hamamatsu, Mishima or similiar (so places you would usually pass with a shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto)

Oku-oi kojo, Yume no Tsuribashi...difficult to get to, but worth it. A must visit for those who want to get on hanging bridges, unmanned stations in middle of a lake, train lovers, nature enthusiasts and of course kids who love Thomas.

We only stayed in Shizuoka for 1 night and it was definitely not enough length. We saw Mt. Fiji and beaches, and also experienced hot spring. We went to the waterfall as well. All of experiences were enjoyable.

As a tea lover, this is the best place to visit!
As a tea lover, this is the best place to visit! Plenty of tea shops in the city and if you have more time, there are also tea farms outside the city limits that you can visit. There are tours organised by the local tourism bureau, you just have to inquire at the visitors information desk.

The location was great and the hotel was good value for money. We paid 1100jpy for parking but this was just on the pavement outside the hotel. It wasn't secure and directly on the road so it actually seemed a bit inappropriate to pay such a high price to park on the street. For the price, you'd expect to park your car somewhere more secure!
A decent option in town, being a short stroll from the train station and buses, especially if you're going to be out and about rather than spending time in the hotel. Our room was a decent size without being spacious, and the bathroom, though small, was bright and had a decent shower. English-speaking staff were friendly and efficient.
The Hotel is beautiful, staff are excellent. Its a very clean hotel and very well maintained. Its a great location and has many great restaurants locally and right over the road from the train station. Breakfast is excellent with a wide variety of food on offer, it gets busy quickly, so getting there early is advised.
The location was perfect! Super close to the main station and town center. The hotel had free green tea, which tasted delicious, in the lobby after 3pm. The amenities in the room are really good. The room was comfortable, a little smaller than expected from the pictures but that didn’t bother us.
Breakfast: Hotel provided a nice breakfast (that's is paid with the room)
Location: It is relatively near Shizuoka station although there is still a fair walking distance
Amenities: The hotel provided amenities such as comb, toothbrush that you can take from the lobby
The location is charming and the owner was quite friendly. Location is not too far from the station. It felt very clean overall, and though the bunks are the sort of handmade type you often see at hostels, they were a good size and the futons were comfortable
Breakfast was delicious
- drink dispenser with big selection all day long
- lots of amenities
- rooms were clean and neat
- located in walking distance to main station and very close to city centre, convenience stores etc.
- small but nice onsen free to use
Sufficient room size (bigger than average Japanese business hotel), nice breakfast selection (choose from available sets), nice coffee (breakfast and coffee by Pronto), location - easy access to Shizuoka station.
The location is the best since the station is just right outside, there are a lot of shops and restaurants at that Shizuoka station so it ios very convenient both for business and leisure treavelling.
The hotel is about 15 minutes away from Shizuoka Station. The facade is a bit small. There is 7-11 on the left of the first floor, and the lobby is on the second floor. There are various equipments.
