I thought it was a different place to go for Safari.
I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

Even though it is a religious hub that connects all the religions to a one place, I enjoyed the YALA Safari very much. Spotted all most all the animals from water birds to hundreds of peacocks, from mongoose to leopard and elephants.

Could not see Perahara, we could not stay after 11.30pm.
Could not see Perahara, we could not stay after 11.30pm. If our Hotel room was close Temple we would have come in time of Perahera.
Could not enjoyed the journey, very disappointing since the Room was 2Km away from Kataragama Town and temple , no access to outside choice food , had to starve until we reached KataragamaTown.
Food and items were sold at uncontrollerable price.
For example-Perera and Sons - selling prices below
Fish rolls- 150
Fried Rice - 750/- quantity very less than side plate and a small drum stick piece chicken with least flesh.
Nestea - Rs 120/=
Lunch - Rs 520/= very very small quantity.
All bills are available with me as proof if necessary.
Surprisingly to know a very reputed food caterers such as PERERA And Sons exploiting selling least quantity food at exorbitant prices compared to Colombo prices to Temple Pilgrims visitors, striving to exist due to economic crisis with no though and concerned to the Poor and needy.
At a Pilgrimage area, such as Kataragama, the business rich, could have treated the mo have visitors in a compromise way, selling at reasonably low price or served as Dansal.
Their were visitor sharing an incompletely served fried rice plate some were begging at the entrance.
This is the way GOD FEARING PEOPLE behave in business concerns at Festival period .
GOVMT need to do something valuable to address the needs of the Pilgrim visitors comming from all ends of the country Sri Lanka.
Could not fulfill the needs we went to Kataragama due exorbitant accommodation and food price.

Kataragama temple in Kataragama, Sri Lanka, is a temple...
Kataragama temple in Kataragama, Sri Lanka, is a temple complex dedicated to Buddhist guardian deity God Kataragama and Hindu War God Murugan. It is one of the few religious sites in Sri Lanka that is venerated by the Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and the Vedda people. Kataragama deviyo is a deification of the legendary king Mahasena, who is born as a Bodhisattva. According to legendary history, Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya was built by King Dutugemunu around 160 years B.C. in fulfilment of a vow to defeat King Elara in battle. It was endowed with a large extent of land by King Dutugemunu for its maintenance and subsequent monarchs did likewise. Kataragama is a multi-religious sacred town. Despite the differences of caste and creed, many Sri Lankans show great reverence to God Kataragama. They honour him as a very powerful deity and beg divine help to overcome their personal problems or for success in business enterprises, etc., with the fervent hope that their requests will be granted. They believe that God Kataragama exists and is vested with extraordinary power to assist those who appeal to him with faith and devotion in times of distress or calamity.
Just a must go if you are in kataragama.
Most probably the most unique accomodation in sri lanka.
The owners are super lovely people, every night the people sit together at a firepit, playing drums or just listening to music with a very good lunch and some beers.
The food is always top and as cheap as the local prices.
great place to meet people.
Also you will meet monkeys, dogs, chipmunks, birds, varans and many more.
The love of detail in the gardens and the little huts is amazing.
Would love to come again!
One of the best accomodations of our trip and well worth heading out to Kataragama for it. The host was lovely and organised our safari and our travels. Sunanda is the real star of the show, giving us a tour of the farm and surrounding grounds of the property and just being so friendly and happy to help. The place itself is lovely, and very peaceful. Food was some of the best we had. Couldn't recommend this place enough! Room was very spacious and clean and one of the largest on our trip.
This is one of the most unique hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and you can spend quite a while wandering the property and looking at all the quirky artwork. I would highly recommend staying in for dinner one night as the food was exceptionally delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful too! They organized our safari ride as well as Tuk Tuks into town.
The rooms are a bit on the rustic side, but it adds to the fun experience!
We wanted to visit kiri vehera and this hotel is located very close to the temple. Even they did decorations in the room for mother's day as well. Thank you so much for that. This hotel is very close by to the temple and facilities for the price are excellent. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Buffet was good. Tasy foods. Overall everything was perfect. Staff is so polite and friendly. Definitely will visit again.
The rooms were very modern. I went there with my family for one night. They had all the facilities of a luxury hotel. The breakfast was also very tasty. They treated us well. They had hot water shower, working ac and fan, clean bedsheets. They even had fresh towels. We booked a triple deluxe room. Would definitely visit again. Very natural setting.
Rooms are large and very comfortable with all amenities. Staff is friendly and cooperative. The pool facilities are great as well! Food is good. All in all a pleasant stay. Location of the hotel is great, with it being just minutes away from the main city.
Great safari camp with renovated rooms, good AC and decent breakfast. Tours to Yala Park can bee booked at reasonable prices.
Saminda and Sameera made our stay more warmhearted, with great service - an excellent experience. Thank you and c u next time!

The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. The property is clean and has a fantastic old-time charm. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone 👍👍
It was a good place to stay and I personally enjoyed the outdoors. Beds were comfortable and clean. It was just 1 km from the town and parking was free so everything was good. The owners were sweet and they communicated well.
