I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

Could not see Perahara, we could not stay after 11.30pm.
Could not see Perahara, we could not stay after 11.30pm. If our Hotel room was close Temple we would have come in time of Perahera.
Could not enjoyed the journey, very disappointing since the Room was 2Km away from Kataragama Town and temple , no access to outside choice food , had to starve until we reached KataragamaTown.
Food and items were sold at uncontrollerable price.
For example-Perera and Sons - selling prices below
Fish rolls- 150
Fried Rice - 750/- quantity very less than side plate and a small drum stick piece chicken with least flesh.
Nestea - Rs 120/=
Lunch - Rs 520/= very very small quantity.
All bills are available with me as proof if necessary.
Surprisingly to know a very reputed food caterers such as PERERA And Sons exploiting selling least quantity food at exorbitant prices compared to Colombo prices to Temple Pilgrims visitors, striving to exist due to economic crisis with no though and concerned to the Poor and needy.
At a Pilgrimage area, such as Kataragama, the business rich, could have treated the mo have visitors in a compromise way, selling at reasonably low price or served as Dansal.
Their were visitor sharing an incompletely served fried rice plate some were begging at the entrance.
This is the way GOD FEARING PEOPLE behave in business concerns at Festival period .
GOVMT need to do something valuable to address the needs of the Pilgrim visitors comming from all ends of the country Sri Lanka.
Could not fulfill the needs we went to Kataragama due exorbitant accommodation and food price.

Kataragama temple in Kataragama, Sri Lanka, is a temple...
Kataragama temple in Kataragama, Sri Lanka, is a temple complex dedicated to Buddhist guardian deity God Kataragama and Hindu War God Murugan. It is one of the few religious sites in Sri Lanka that is venerated by the Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and the Vedda people. Kataragama deviyo is a deification of the legendary king Mahasena, who is born as a Bodhisattva. According to legendary history, Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya was built by King Dutugemunu around 160 years B.C. in fulfilment of a vow to defeat King Elara in battle. It was endowed with a large extent of land by King Dutugemunu for its maintenance and subsequent monarchs did likewise. Kataragama is a multi-religious sacred town. Despite the differences of caste and creed, many Sri Lankans show great reverence to God Kataragama. They honour him as a very powerful deity and beg divine help to overcome their personal problems or for success in business enterprises, etc., with the fervent hope that their requests will be granted. They believe that God Kataragama exists and is vested with extraordinary power to assist those who appeal to him with faith and devotion in times of distress or calamity.
We spend 2 nights in this very special hotel.
The host is charismatic persone, it was a big
pleasure to speak with him.
He build the rooms around a three - the fantastic artwork. The hotel is close to the Yale
park, many animals come but it is safe and quiet. The food was beter than excellent.
The host organized for us 5 hrs safari in Yale park. One evening he showed us the prayers in
Kateragama temples - fantastic.
Last day he drove us to the bus station free of
charge.
We strongly recommend this hotel.
We liked how the safari was organised, our guide Prosad was great, we saw leopards and a lot of elephants! The whole day was a wonderful experience.
The location is quiet, it's about 20 minutes to the city, super close to safari, but there are few options to eat, so you can order food in the hotel, ask for "not spicy" if you don't like spicy.
Nice working crew, especially Fernando, the main chief was really nice and ready to fullfill sny type of favor. he made a birthday came as a surprise for our daughter.
the rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious and food in the restaurant was just excellent.
great swimming pool provided nice rellax
The host and her family are super nice. The breakfast was very delicious (also take away possible for early trekkings etc.). The hotel is perfectly located and you can easily walk to the city centre and the most popular attractions like 9 Arch Bridge, Little Adams Peak and Ella Rock.
Size of the rooms was very good, swimming pool was excellent, but the absolute stand out best feature of this hotel is the excellent staff throughout, with particular mention of Sumeera Navinda, who works in the restaurant and went over and above in making our stay an excellent one.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location is very close to Pooja Boomiya and the Centre. Even if you want to dine out side there are options in Kataragama town.Overall it was a very pleasant experience to spend an overnight there.
We reached a bit late on check-in date and they had our rooms ready. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Surely a great location particularly for tourists keen on visiting the Kataragama temple. Ample private parking space available.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. The property is clean and has a fantastic old-time charm. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone 👍👍
The staff was amazing and very kind! They arranged the best birthday dinner for my boyfriend.
The rooms are clean and modern, with a really beautiful view! The food is really good as well.
I definitely recommend staying here!
It was a good place to stay and I personally enjoyed the outdoors. Beds were comfortable and clean. It was just 1 km from the town and parking was free so everything was good. The owners were sweet and they communicated well.
Great scenic location in the country with an amazing staff. When we had a slow internet connection they brought a router to our room for faster speed. Would highly recommend this hotel.
One of the nicest guesthouses. Good condition of rooms and close to city center. Very pleasant and helpful Dinesh and his wife who were happy to prepare a delicious meal for us.
Nice hotel, staff is good. location is superb. Food is relatively expensive but portions are big and delicious. Bathrooms were clean but there was an unpleasant smell.
Simple, comfortable and clean rooms. Conveniently located close to the temple and town. Spacious hotel with a lot of parking. Manager was very helpful.
